DigMyPics Help Center: What to Do Next

In a nutshell ... one of our major competitors called DigMyPics has gone out of business with no warning to its customer base.

For more context and updates, see our latest post: DigMyPics closure update and what to do next.

If you were about to place a DigMyPics order—or you already shipped media and can’t reach them—use the fast paths below.

Important: We are not affiliated with DigMyPics. We can’t access their systems or recover items already in their possession. We can help you triage shipping status and digitize your media going forward.

Path A: Haven’t Shipped Yet

Pause shipping and start clean with a provider actively accepting projects.

  • Get a quick quote (rough counts are fine)
  • Pack + label clearly
  • Ship with tracking
  • Request a quote + shipping guidance today
Start Path A

Path B: Already Shipped

Use carrier tools to see whether intercept/return is possible and document everything.

  • Find carrier + tracking
  • Check “In Transit / Delivered / Exception”
  • Ask about intercept/return if still moving
  • Save receipts + screenshots
Start Path B

If You Already Shipped to DigMyPics

  • Find tracking: check email for USPS/UPS/FedEx receipts.
  • Check status: In Transit, Delivered, Exception, Returned.
  • If still moving: ask carrier about intercept/return immediately.
  • Save proof: screenshots + ship receipt + declared value/insurance.

If You Haven’t Shipped Yet

We can take over your project now. Tell us what you have (rough count is fine) and we’ll guide packing + shipping.

Tip: Put “DigMyPics” in your message so we can route you faster.

DigMyPics FAQs: What Happened & What To Do Next

We know this is stressful. These answers are designed to help you take the best next step quickly and safely.

Are you DigMyPics? Are you affiliated with DigMyPics?

No. Memory Fortress is not affiliated with DigMyPics. We do not have access to their systems, order records, payment information, or internal operations.

What we can do is help you triage your situation (especially shipping/tracking) and complete your digitizing project going forward.

What do you know about what happened to DigMyPics?

The company has ceased all operations and is no longer processing orders or answering their phones or emails. DigMyPics has gone out of business.

We don’t have inside information about DigMyPics’ operations. Many customers have reported they’re unable to reach the company through normal channels.

The best approach is to focus on actionable steps: confirm carrier tracking status, preserve documentation, and make a new plan for digitizing if needed.

I already shipped my photos/tapes/film to DigMyPics. What should I do right now?
  1. Find your tracking number (search email for USPS/UPS/FedEx receipts or confirmations).
  2. Check status: In Transit / Out for Delivery / Delivered / Exception / Returned.
  3. If it’s still moving, ask the carrier about intercept/return immediately (options vary by carrier and service level).
  4. Save proof: screenshots, ship receipt, declared value/insurance, destination address used, and ship date.

If you want help interpreting what your tracking means or what to try next, contact us with your carrier + tracking number and we’ll point you in the right direction.

My tracking shows “Delivered.” Does that mean they have my items?

“Delivered” typically means the carrier believes the package reached the destination address (or a mailroom/front desk). It doesn’t always confirm who physically received it.

Save your delivery confirmation details (time, location, signature info if available). If needed, contact the carrier with your tracking number for additional delivery details.

My tracking shows “Exception,” “Delivery failed,” or “Returned to sender.” What does that mean?

Those statuses usually indicate the carrier could not complete delivery or has redirected the package. Common reasons include address issues, access restrictions, or delivery refusal.

Contact the carrier quickly with your tracking number and ask exactly what the exception code means and what options exist (re-delivery, hold, return, intercept).

I haven’t shipped yet—should I still send my box to DigMyPics?

If you’re unsure whether a company is actively receiving and processing incoming media, the safest move is to pause shipping and use a provider that is clearly accepting projects.

If you want to proceed now, Memory Fortress can take over your project and guide you through safe packing + tracked shipping. Call us today at 678-579-2249

Can Memory Fortress recover my items from DigMyPics?

We can’t retrieve items already in another company’s possession. We’re not connected to their systems or facility.

What we can do is help you interpret tracking/carrier options and, if you need a new plan, digitize your items going forward with a clear workflow.

What if my items are irreplaceable family photos—how do I protect myself?

Document everything: tracking history screenshots, shipping receipts, ship date, declared value/insurance, and a written list of what was sent (even approximate).

If you haven’t shipped yet, take quick smartphone photos of the contents before packing. If you already shipped, write down what you remember and save any emails/invoices you have.

If the carrier is involved (lost, exception, misdelivered), start the carrier’s support process while the shipment history is fresh.

Will you match what I ordered from DigMyPics (formats, resolution, organization)?

Often, yes. If you still have an invoice, confirmation email, or screenshots of your order details, send them to us and we’ll recommend the closest equivalent plan (and any upgrades that make sense).

If you don’t have documentation, that’s okay—tell us what media you have and what “done” looks like (download vs USB, folders, file types), and we’ll guide you.

How do I safely ship photos, slides, and tapes to a digitizing company?
  • Use a sturdy box with padding so items don’t shift.
  • Label groups (e.g., “Box 1 Photos,” “Box 2 VHS,” etc.).
  • Include a note with your name, email, phone, and any special instructions.
  • Ship with tracking, and consider insurance for irreplaceable items.

If you choose Memory Fortress, we’ll provide simple packing guidance tailored to your media types.

How long does digitizing usually take?

Turnaround depends on the size and complexity of your order (count of tapes/slides, formats, and any special handling). We’ll give you an estimate after you describe what you have.

For customers trying to move quickly after a DigMyPics disruption, we prioritize fast intake and clear updates so you’re not stuck waiting for answers.

What formats do you handle?
  • Photos (prints & albums)
  • Slides
  • Negatives
  • VHS / VHS-C
  • Hi8 / Digital8 / MiniDV
  • Scrapbooks and other large albums
  • 8mm / Super 8 film (and other home movie formats depending on needs)

If you’re unsure what you have, describe it in plain English and we’ll help identify it.

How do I get started with Memory Fortress?
  1. Request a quote (rough counts are fine). 678-579-2249
  2. We’ll recommend a plan and provide packing/shipping guidance.
  3. You ship with tracking (or arrange drop-off if applicable).
  4. We digitize and deliver your files the way you want them organized.

Tip: Put “DigMyPics” in your message so we can route you faster.

What should I include when I contact you for “triage help”?
  • Carrier (USPS/UPS/FedEx)
  • Tracking number
  • Ship date
  • What you shipped (photos/slides/VHS/film, approximate count)
  • Current tracking status (in transit/delivered/exception)

Even partial info helps—we’ll tell you the best next move based on what’s available.

Can you help me even if I’m not a former DigMyPics customer?

Yes. If you need to digitize photos, slides, negatives, tapes, or film, we can help you get it done with a clear process and careful handling.

Kari P. – “Wow! Such a great experience! Memory Fortress took our most precious memories and enabled us to view them on our computer anytime, anywhere! So much easier than traveling to go through all the scrapbooks at my parent’s house.

From start to finish, we (and our photos) were treated so well. This is the company to go through if you have a ton of scrapbooks that you don’t know what to do with!”

Why Use Memory Fortress?

When it comes to digitizing your old photos, movies and negatives, trust is essential. Preserving history is more than just what we do for a living.

It’s our passion. Here are some other reason we are the right choice for all your photo scanning needs.

Outstanding customer service – For us, customer service is all about great communication. You will get emails from us when we receive your photos, finish digitizing them and when we are sending them out.

National Company – We serve all 50 states!
